Introducing the Upgraded Buildcam TL Hardware
Buildcam's 2025 Buildcam TL hardware upgrades deliver greater reliability, durability, and ease of installation: lighter mount, improved visor, and enhanced humidity control.
The Buildcam TL is the professional standard for long-term construction timelapse. The 2025 hardware update makes it lighter, tougher, and faster to install, with three targeted improvements that address the most common challenges of deploying on active construction sites.
Refined Pole Mount Design
The original Buildcam TL mount weighed 1.7 kg. The redesigned aluminum mount comes in at 500 g, a 70% reduction in mounting hardware weight.
For installers working at height on scaffold poles or camera masts, that weight difference matters. Transport to the install point is easier. The mount is less fatiguing to position and secure. And once installed, the lighter aluminum frame is more resistant to the vibration and minor impacts that are unavoidable on a live construction site.
Stability has not been compromised. The redesigned mount provides a secure, rigid platform for the camera housing throughout the project duration.
Improved Visor Design
The lens visor has been redesigned to provide better protection against the specific conditions that affect image quality over time: rain, dust, and construction debris.
The updated design improves the angle and coverage of the protective overhang, reducing the frequency of water ingress that causes lens spots. For a system that may run unattended for six to twelve months, fewer lens contamination events means more usable frames and fewer maintenance interventions.
Enhanced Humidity Control
The Buildcam TL has always included breather valve technology to manage internal humidity, essential for protecting the camera electronics in environments with significant temperature cycling or moisture exposure.
The 2025 update adds a second upgraded breather valve, providing greater control over internal conditions during long-term deployments in challenging climates: tropical sites with high humidity, coastal locations with salt air, and cold-climate projects where temperature differentials are extreme.

These hardware updates apply to all new Buildcam TL systems shipping from August 2025. If you have a question about retrofit options for existing deployments, contact the Buildcam team directly.
The core platform of professional DSLR capture, cloud connectivity, autonomous operation, and Sentinel OS is unchanged. The 2025 updates make the system more reliable in the field where it matters most: at the mount point, in front of the lens, and inside the housing.
